Latinos in America
John Riofrio, "Rio," recently published an editorial response to CNN's documentary Latino in America in the Huffington Post. Rio's essay argues that CNN's effort at balance has meant the excision of all social context and relevant social theory. The consequence of this lack of social theory is that CNN fails to represent Latinos in all their diversity while falling into the unfortunate trap of presenting stereotypes instead of solutions.
